Disappearing smilies (update: looks to be an Internet Explorer 8 problem)

I love the choice of smilies on the boards even though I don't use them all that often. This evening I went to use the "hello" wave one and can't access it. The box comes up with the top half dozen or so and I can see the very top of the next one down, but the slider fills up its allotted space and won't move. In addition, the top now says "Smilie 1".

Is it just me or has something been changed?

Some of the smilies have been banned for posting naughty things about two of the flirty mods.

On the tech threads I posted the same thingy. Turns out it is the IE. I loaded foxfire and got them all back.....

I guess IE has up graded or something. I don't know what else to tell ya.

I thought it must be something like that. :e2tongue:

There are one or two I can just type in, but I don't know all of them.

And Windows just did an automatic upgrade on my system, so that must be it.

Thanks very much.

Seems that IE 8 can't figure out how big the smilie window should be. One workaround is to go to the very bottom of the page and look in the left-hand corner. Where it says "Smilies are on", click on the smilies link and it will bring up the window which has all the codes for the smilies. From that, you can figure out what to type in.

Alternatively, you can click the "Compatability" button at the far right of the address bar in IE8 (looks like a piece of shredded paper). You'll get your smilies and font list back (I knows, 'cos it happened to me!).

I was going to say you need to find a new editor, one that will let you write corny things like, "Nostalgia buzzed in my gut like a swarm of wasps antagonized by a stupid kid poking a stick into their hive."

Then I realized you're talking about smilies. Not similes. Oopsie.
