I may from time to time want to post a photo. Problem is, my photos don't have URLs, they are not on the net, they are on my desktop, often Photoshop or Illustrator. No URLs. Is there an alternate way?

Sure. Go to photobucket.com and sign up for a free account. Upload the photos you'd like to share. Easy as pie.
Alternative answer - post them in your blog (if you have one) and link to the image(s) there. Unlike Mac's answer, my solution means having a blog to fill as well.
