I am having trouble inserting page numbers in Word. The problem that I run into is formatting the page numbers to correspond with a double sided page. Using the header and footer view inserts page numbers that continue throughout the document in the same position. If I print double sided, the page numbers are in the wrong position on even numbered pages. This might be a stupid question, but do not forget, I am just a pilot.

For Office 2007:
Under Page Layout / Margins, at the bottom of the menu click 'Custom Margins'
Under the 'Layout' tab check the 'Different Odd and Even' headers. that should allow your page #s to print in opposite corners.

The other alternative is to place the page # at the bottom center.

Earlier Versions of word will (probably) have the Different Even/ Odd option located under File--> Page Setup--> Layout.

Otherwise, it's as RJK said.

When you go to View--> Headers, you'll see your headers labeled as "Even Header" and "Odd Header." What you do in one WILL NOT carry over to the other. So, you could select the page number and light the Left Alignment button for even pages, then go to the next page and align those as Right Alignment. You could, if you wanted, even put the book title on the evens and the author name on the odds, or however it is in books. =)

AND you can make the first page different, too.
