Hi forum members,
I'm the newest kind of 'newbie,' new to a forum, new to the internet, but, not new to writing. I've stayed away from technology, preferring the shelves of my local library for information, until I wrote a particular book and decided to really try to put it 'out there.' Then I discovered the BIG WIDE WORLD of publishing and frankly, I'm terrified! I've read some entries on this forum and found them to be interesting, informative and supportive, especially since I feel like a very small fish in a very large sea. It's nice to know that there's a community searching for the same answers I'm looking for, and I hope to join in and become part of a network that's encouraging to one such as I, totally uninitiated in the ways of the world. I've writen diverse genres, and have a manuscript with a very well known agent in New York. They say that 'ignorance is bliss,' as I sent her a short query only explaining my book in a couple of lines and she immediately asked for the whole manuscript, then a week later for the electronic copy. I assumed this was just the order of things, but since reading the forum I've discovered that it's a lot more compliced than I originally thought.
I'm hoping that my 'ignorance' pays off, but in the meantime while I wait (it's been 6 weeks), I look forward to taking part in the discussions that I've read to date but have been a little afraid to enter into.
