The book is a little over 30,000 words so far and I'm adding a subplot (maybe) I need a beta to read what I have so far and tell me their opinions and suggestions. it is about the death of a rock superstar named Ayden Grace and it's named Suffer Well: A Love Story.

thanks:D

I suspect you might have difficulty getting takers because your story is only 30k. That's half, perhaps less than half the length of a novel. Personally, as a beta reader I seek out novels aimed at publication, and I'm struggling to imagine what you could do with a 30k novella. So if other beta readers are thinking like me, it's the length that's the problem.

Other ways to entice betas:

- Post your opening chapter(s) in SYW. Bear in mind that potential betas are looking at how well you use the critique you're given and how you treat your critiquers. Link to those threads here.

- Give a short synopsis so we know what we're getting into.

- Proofread your posts on this forum before posting, because if you don't use correct capitalisation or punctuation here, a beta might assume that you do the same in your manuscript.

- Offer to exchange beta reads, though I doubt you'll be able to beta a work of comparable length.

Just a few thoughts. :)
