Hello Everyone!
I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I have been writing pretty regularly for a client and now they want to know if I would be interested in proofreading for them. I would of course, but what am I getting myself into? Obviously, I will be checking for grammer, spelling, sentence structure, sense and other discrepencies, but is there anything else I should know? Plus, do you just use microsoft word or is there special proofreading software that is used by all proofers?
Thanks for any advice you have. I can use it all!

Welcome, Jolie! :Sun:

If the client doesn't have a format preference, I'd just make sure the resulting file is compatible with their system. I've had problems when using a higher version of MSWord than what a client has, and vice versa.

Proofreading, back when I did it, didn't include "sense," and seldom should it include grammar. What you're talking about is line-by-line editing. Ask your client what he expects you to catch. If it turns out to be everything and anything, don't do it unless there's a hell of a lot of compensation.

Thank You Both

Thanks! Good advice. I hadn't thought of the version problem and the work load. Now I have some intelligent questions to ask them. :)
They didn't say "line-by-line edit" so I am going to ask for more info about the "proofreading" they requested.
Thanks!!!!
