HNS Conference

Thank you, catholicone. It was a delight nmeeting and chatting with you. What? You haven't read them already?

I want to add it was a far better conference than the writing conferences I attended in that there were no nasty people trying to one-up others. I wish we could have met all the writers as well as some of us did with each other.
I was great to place faces on those we have communicated with here like you, Tinney, and History Nerd, and those on other sites.

I did not take my laptop so I came home to 144 emails, 12 gmails, 102 spammails that sometimes include valuable emails, and I expect it will take a few days before we get back into the AW routine. It will be a long 2 year wait for the next one.

It was great meeting you both, and others too. I agree that there didn't seem to be any one-upsmanship going on, just a lot of support, warmth, and camaraderie, some really good sessions, and a lot of fun. Not to mention a HUGE pile of books, freebies and purchases (Donroc, I'll get to yours soon!). I wish they'd do it again next year, instead of in two years.

They told me the conference in England is going to be smaller and shorter next year.

Hi, all! I had a great time meeting you all, too. I'm glad no one was disappointed. It's such a friendly and supportive conference, a great place for putting faces to names and discovering new authors. I'm just sorry I didn't have enough time to spend getting to know everyone I met better.

Boy, I had a great time. At the end of each day, my face hurt from smiling! It was so wonderful to meet members of this forum - standing around saying stuff like "I'm Funidream, and this is History Nerd." Being able to put a face to the handle was fun - LKP, you look just like your avatar!!

As far as the conference goes, there were so many people to talk to, and the networking opportunities (the reason I go) were just fantastic. People from allover the states, Canada, England, Australia.

I was lucky enough to be on a panel with Margaret George, who is just lovely. Her keynote describing her methods for getting herself back to her place in time was so appropriate for her audience - she really connected, for you could just see the heads nodding as she spoke. The first night dinner found me next to Brenda Rickman Vantrease (THE ILLUMINATOR). She and her husband are a great couple - so sweet down to earth. The second night I was at a table with Anne Easter Smith (THE KING'S GRACE) - such a charming lady.

It was also nice to meet up with people I had met up with back in 2007 at Albany, and hear about their positive progress with their writing and getting published efforts.

I can't say enough about the value of this conference for me, and I am grateful to all the volunteers who work so hard in making it happen. Even though the British version is said to be smaller, and shorter, I am seriously considering going over the pond next year, to soak in another shot of historical fiction energy.

A little late, but I enjoyed meeting all of you (or seeing you again, in funidream's case), too. I thought this one was even better than the Albany conference two years ago.
