Brillig in the slithy toves...
Sorry, mods, I couldn't figure out where to put this other than here. I looked for an existing thread, but there wasn't one.

Is there such a thing as Dark Romance or Romantic Horror? This is for a dark YA novel with monsters involved, but woven around a romance. The romance isn't light and fluffy, but more of a tragic triangle. Should I just leave off the romance bit in the genre description and focus on it as a Dark YA novel?

There's certainly a dark romance sub-genre.

But from your description I would probably stick to using "dark YA novel" as the genre of your story. The fact that it's a YA novel trumps everything else. Of course, when you're describing your story in something like a query you can go ahead and expand a bit on exactly what the story involves (" . . . a dark YA novel that includes horror elements but is at the heart a love story . . . " -- okay, well, that's not very good, but you get the point).
