Hmm...interesting. And one convention I could possibly make it to. It looks as though he has a good line up of speakers. After reading through a few of his pages, I didn't find him so full of himself. He made sense. A lot of what he said is exactly how I think. Well...then again, that is kind of scary, eh?

Well. . . I can tell you this - He's a friend of a writer friend of mine. She always speaks highly of him and attends Mo*Con - for what that's worth.

Maurice is good people. I haven't made a Mo*Con yet, but I got to hang out with him and some of his con's regulars at HyperiCon this past weekend. Guest of Honor Brian Keene has some pics on his blog here:

I heartily endorse going to cons; I've been doing so off and on since the mid-70s. I recommend the smaller ones. Not that DragonCon isn't tons o' fun (or so I hear) but one that massive, you'll be lucky to even get within eyeshot of the GOH. The closest I got at HorrorFind Weekend a few years back was holding the elevator door for Adrienne Barbeau, for example. I'd start out with a more intimate con, where you have a chance to hang out with the pros. I've gotten to sit down and talk with Ted Sturgeon, Forry Ackerman, Gordy Dickson, Bob Tucker, Bob Asprin, Stephen King, Whitley Strieber, Peter Straub, Charlie Grant and lots more I can't recall at the moment at the ones I've attended. I'd put Allen Steele on that list, but that might be cheating as I've known him since were were in high school.

That's an impressive list Otter and I think I'd be a bit tongue-tied. LOL Now, I'm imagining them all looking at me like...write, the woman can't even speak. Most especially SK. I'm sure I could wait at the elevator beside Adrienne Barbeau and say WHO? I'm not the star-struck type. But King? That's such a lovely thought to sit down and have a chat.
