Alright, well here's an extremely intelligent question, since the only dumb questions are the ones that never get asked:

Why do I only have access to a grand total of 7 emoticons? Yes I can clearly see the white smiley icon between the large "A" and the "undo"/"redo" tabs, but when I click on it I only have access to a total of 7.

WTF?

And no, I'm not talking about the World Taekwondo Federation, although I'm thinking of joining it just to obtain a free badge with the acronym on it.

Have you clicked on the "show all smilies" link at the bottom of the white smiley dropdown menu? The should bring up a box with plenty of 'em.

I don't have that link at the bottom of the smilies drop down menu. It reads "Smileys 1" at the top of the menu, then, in order: Smile, Wink, Stick Out Tongue, Big Grin, Welcome, Hug2, Rant. And that's it for the 7 that I'm offered. I can't scroll down any lower than that and "Rant" is the last available emoticon.

I've heard others talk about the things that you are, but I honestly do not have that option.

Glitch? Bug?

This is a brand new laptop, and not some cheap POS either. POS of course standing for Piece of [Feces]. I usually don't purchase that model.

I don't know how to access the other smilies that everyone else on here seems to have access to.

Can you select any of the ones you do see? If you aren't using the mouse to click to scroll or select, it might not work.

I like keyboard scrolling but can't do it in that drop-down box. It's a pet peeve of mine on a lot of programming today, actually.

Yeah, as I stated, I have access to the first 7 emoticons:

But after that, I am not given any options to scroll down or click on anything to access more emoticons. Strange.

And yeah, it IS strange. I mean, it's not a real big deal overall but it's also not cool if I don't get to play with the same toys as everybody else.

You can always do the manual approach in the meanwhile

For each of these, add : at the start (note that not all have a : at the end)
:e2teeth:

e2brows:

Hug2:

e2woo:

Headbang:

eek:

e2grouphu

And so on. Scrolling over an emoticon *usually* gives you the right code, minus the :'s. If you mess it up, you can always edit it to fix.

You might try : e2hammer: on your system

Btw, the code for

is simply ; ) w/o the space. Same for : D and : )

Try this Mad hack: open this link in a new tab (right click, open in new tab). Bookmark it (as AW Smilies). Now all you have to do is open a tab to that and either copy the code or -- oh feces, Idiot Exploder can't do the other trick! :rant:

Hell, get Firefox. Should anyway. :tongue

Let me ask a stupid question. GodofWar, did you notice the scroll bar at the side of the Smiley dropdown box? When I click the dropdown arrow, all I see is down to the 'Rant', but if I scroll down, I see about 12 more, then the "See all Smiley" option.
