Okay, I couldn't wait for someone better than me to start this thread. Where are all youse guys?

Anyway, I started June with a bang. Writing another chapter today, chapter 15. Admittedly, it is my second shortest chapter in this project at a mere 1348 words.

Okay everyone! Let's make June shine! :Sun:

Rain down those words! :hooray:

All right, Doc! Good work! And welcome back to TheIT, who is still stuck in May... :)

I got 249 words on the new WIP yesterday, plus a page of notes. I'll take it. It's always slow going at the beginning, and this one is going to be harder than most... no longer just writing to please myself, but someone else as well! Gives it a whole different perspective.

Hey, at the moment I'm lucky I know what day it is, much less month... :D

No words recently, but I posted my May SF/F Challenge piece (why yes, it's June, but the words were written in May, right? ;) ). It's incomplete, but it'll take another couple of thousand words to finish it the way I'm envisioning and I want to get back to my revision. I'm using this piece as an exercise in description (or lack thereof) and hoping this will help point out some of the weaknesses I need to work on.

I got maybe 300 words on my WIP last night.

I'd write 2-3 sentences, then realize that I didn't remember what had happened (been written) earlier in the story about said event. Then I went back a little to insert a scene... and didn't remember what had happened earlier with THAT character. I scrolled back, but as my eyes passed over the words what I saw was "words, words, words, chapter break, words..." instead of what was really written. It was about then that I decided to go to bed. =)

No words as yet today. But I'm skipping the caffeine, so I am a bit run down. I don't like to "use" more than a couple of days in a row. I like to make sure I not get addicted. ;)

I started China Mieville's latest, The City and the City. So far so good, but I'm only 5 chapter in. Hopefully, I can wake up enough to get in some writing, but if not, I consider this reading to be research. :D

Heyjude, always write to get yourself to enjoy it. What does anyone else know? :D

1965 yesterday. A few hundred of those were cribbed from one of my "Characters Wandering Aimlessly" projects, though. Nice to know those come in handy. :)

Nice catch on Spring, TheIT! We'll lure her back...

Well, I'm here to mark my spot. I did wind up reading and perusing my WIP last night. That's more than I'd done previously. So I'm getting there. Thanks for the tip to check out the new June thread. I would have been posting to myself over there on the May thread for a long time to come!

Still no new words, but I have been rewriting and editing like a fiend. (Do fiends edit? And if they do, do they hire out? I could use one.) Manuscript is better and leaner.

Wrote about a page last night in continuation of my challenge piece. Still spacy from being sick, but I'm starting to feel human again. Sort of.

I wrote a couple pages, not sure how many words, today. Yesterday, barely a paragraph.

Nothing yet today...but, if I don't post progress next Wednesday, somebody come kick me. I officially have Wed. afternoons off work now, so that ought to mean some good writing time.

(Now hopefully I'll get something before then, but we know how that goes...)

1524 for today. Not a bad day. Pretty good actually, but I feel I quit awfully early. I should have gotten back at it at some point and did not. :whip

Trying to finish Chapter 16 tomorrow.

Nothing yesterday.
570 words today.

The last few days, every plan I tried to come up with for my non-writing time has been completely destroyed by forces and people beyond my control. =P

And 288 words of random notes and sort-of planning. A couple of neat tidbits, though.

618 yesterday. It came awfully hard, though. The next couple of days will be tight--I'm helping hostess a wedding shower Saturday. All that sweetness and light and sugar and spice is really going to get in the way of the kidnappings and murder and lies and betrayal. :)

104 words today, in a full rewrite of chapter 10.

Most chapters get shorter when I rewrite. This one seemed lean already, almost too much so. A few added details rounded it out nicely.

Baby showers are the opposite for me... they make me plan murders. Last one I went to, I ended up hiding in a corner. Plotting and trying not to snap.

I'm off to the library to drool over local history. Hopefully I'll get some writing done later tonight.

Good luck with the shower, heyjude!

No words, but I'm percolating a new piece for the SF/F challenge. The anti-hero prompt is making a couple of my characters want to come out and play. :D

1925 today. That finishes chapter 16 (and 17 as well. I combined them from my outline into one long chapter.)

I've been on quite the roll for June having already covered 4800 words in the first four days. :)

Keep the progress going everyone! :poke:

An hour-ish of story-thinking, interspersed with falling asleep -- 400-ish words, and the bare beginnings of an outline.

Ha Ha!

AnnieColleen, I do the hour long story-think-falling-asleep thing most days too. They are sooooooo important. ;)

:) Well, it moved the story along, so that's good at least. I just have to make sure not to drop the laptop in the process!
