Sometimes, while we're talking, we get interrupted. In real life we can tell when someone has been interrupted. In written dialogue though how is it portrayed? Elipses? Dash? How is it written?
An interruption usually is signified by a dash, in things I've seen. Ellipses indicate simply a failure to complete a sentence or statement, something left hanging, you know . . .
