I am a closet writer -- the kind of person who has completed 4 or 5 ms on my computer but never had the guts to submit them.
Well I decided to toss my fears aside and try to get one published. It is completed, polished, beta x3 and ready to go. It is a Young adult novel that rounds out at about 67,000 words. I am looking for advice on my querey letter.
Also, I have seen some query letters where people site their credentials to write. Is that necessary, particulary if you have never been published and do not have a MFA.

Navigating the social confines of adolescence is hard enough, but with an audience of spirits surrounding you simple rights of passage become complicated and awkward. Imagine trying to focus in Calculus class when voices only you can hear are constantly trying to grab you attention. Imagine your first date, your first kiss with an unseen audience of hovering critics. Imagine not being able to explain to the one person you want to trust that there is a reason for your self-conscious and inappropriate reactions.
For seventeen years Sarah Beth Harper has managed to keep her second sight hidden from those closest to her until a popular, pragmatic, classmate - Crawford Jackson- with demons of his own suddenly takes an interest in her, threatening exposure of her well guarded secret. Her only confidant to her ghostly visions is a gypsy, a Star Child like herself that she haphazardly stumbles across at the County Fair.
Sarah Beth has always been comfortable existing simultaneously in two realms. Her sense of humor and her quick wit have managed to keep any questions at bay, at least until the appearance of a blacker spirit, a shadow person, forces her to seek out support.
Seven Shades of Crazy is a loving, humorous 67,00 word young adult novel about a gifted teenager growing up in a small southern town where Heaven and Hell indubitably exist.
