Opportunites for Christian novel on Genesis?

A few years ago I wrote a Christian adventure novel, based on parts of the book of Genesis. Over the past few years, I've had two agents who felt it was worth trying to publish, but I never had any success, and I guess the agents gave up on it, as I would hear from them less and less until I dropped them.

I've pretty much finished the novel (it's around 155,000 words), and I haven't quite given up on trying to get it published. With all the scamming "publishers" out there, I don't know who to trust. I definitely don't want a vanity publisher.

If anyone has suggestions for a publisher who might be willing to take a chance on a first-time author, please let me know. Incidentally, I have written several articles for a well-known Christian magazine, but I don't know if it will help me with this.

If you're going straight to a publisher rather than using an agent, you might try Thomas Nelson in Nashville. I have no idea what their submission policy is.

Just my question....155,000 words? That is a pretty long work. That might have something to do with anyone wanting to pub it. IMHO.....That's almost twice as long as a regular type book. Is there any way it could be made into two seperate works? (Just me thinking out loud,.....)

The first question I would ask you is who were these two agents, and which houses did they submit it to? If it's already been rejected by all the obvious appropriate publishing houses, that makes a difference, obviously. On the other hand, if these were scam agents, you're pretty much where you were when you finished the novel, and your next step would be to look for an honest agent.

Pretty much all publishing houses are willing to take a chance on a first time author--that's how they get new authors that will make the most money in the long run. And I don't think 155,000 words is excessively long. It might be longer than someone considers optimal for a first time novel, but it's far from impossible.
