My father meant well, I know this, but I am not good with new things. (Having a retired (Laid off 2 months ago) gadget expert living with ya has its pros and cons) He updated my puter to the 2007 Microsoft word and it's not even checking spelling as I go. The formatting is all wonky, I spent the better part of yesterday trying to get the pages to look somewhat decent. The only way I managed page numbers was very disturbing, so removed that but if there is a better way to make that work, would appreciate any additional basic tips. It does have a pretty look but I liked the simplicity of the old one :/

Edit: Also it doesn't seem to be correcting my nasty wording, sentence fragments and such that is was doing before. *whine*
Thankie!

Look under Tools > Autocorrect options, especially the Autocorrect as You Type tab. Set it up the way you want it. I'm guessing it's the same as Word 2003, which is what I use.

Are you using a header for your page numbers? That's the best and easiest way to do it.

It doesn't offer that nifty 'Tools' option like before. I can go under 'review' and click 'Spelling and Grammar' but it's a actual function rather than the ever-present companion as before. Likely a case of me being blond/blind :/

Word 2007 is set up somewhat differently than 2003.
Click on the MS Office symbol in the upper left of the screen.
At the bottom of that menu, there is a buttontitled "Word Options"
Click that, and another menu displays on the screen.
On the left frame in that menu, click on Proofing. The screen that displays will have the "Autocorrect Options" button. Click that.
Check out each of the tabs on the screen, make whatever adjustments you feel you want to make, then click OK.
OK your way out of each of the menus.
