We're in preproduction!
Ok I am not going to say this will work for everyone, but my new approach is to skip the huge production companies and target actors who have their own prodco's that they are using to a certain degree to produce movies they star in.

I have recently recvieved 3 follow up emaisl form the same producer/actor who is very excited and we have started initial discussions for him to option the script and star in the lead role. I will keep you updated and if it does option I will give you the actors name.

Just another route for you guys to try.

Great but your script should suit the actor. Mine is a crossover script
and I an search of a producer who will be interested .

what is a crossover? All I know is unless you are writing about an alien or an animal your lead is a male or female and query whatever one it is.

Bending like Beckam is a crossover film . I am an Indian English writer
and my writing is prose based and it will not be like a natural speaker.
My mother tongue is Tamil. Though English is my love and writing is my passion my style is different .

I still have no idea what a crossover is. Do you mean crossover as in country, language, culture, genre? What exactly are you crossing over to and from? And why? My guess is the more things you have in the pot the harder it is going to be to sell, but this is coming from someone who still has no idea what you're talking about.

That sounds like your making things in an already difficult process... more difficult. Getting creating with "my style is different" doesn't really fly in Hollywood. Just an observation, but much like icerose, I still am not 100% sure what you are talking about.

In India, the movies which are based on themes related to India/ Indians and have an association with the British/US movie industries (actors, technicians, directors, scriptwriters) are sometimes referred to as crossover movies. Salaam Bombay (Director Mira Nair) and Bend it like Beckham (Director Gurindar Chadhdha) are two examples. Initially, only a select group of audience appreciated such films but now crossover movies are gaining popularity among the masses in India.

Well, it is a vague definition but I think that's what Padnar means.

yeah that is what I meant . Sorry for not being clear and as you say it is very dificult , but still I hope to sell. I am confident in my story and I am sure it will take time but still I have to approach production companies . My script is also women centric .Women have very strong roles in my writing .

Okay, I guess that makes sense. I haven't seen either of those movies or heard of them, possibly because I'm in the US not in the UK or India and possibly because I'm not into those genres, whichever they may be.

Very clear now.
They're movies about Indians made by Indians but with a strong appeal to Western audiences, in other words not the long, musically inspired Bollywood melodrama's, but more toned-down, down-to-earth movies which are unlikely to attract massive audiences in India.
BTW I love movies like Bend it like Beckham, Monsoon Wedding etc.

I just looked into billboards- the last one on Wilshire Blvd. went for 19 grand, and that was a last minute discount marked down from 32 grand.

Looks like I'll be takin' the conventional route.
