Mysterious
In the darkness, not one day past
blunt end to me, serendipitous cast
an oak did lie full grooved and etched
impacted sinew thusly stretched
a trestle, hissed in cadence force
the act without, but delayed remorse
Or, put in non-Gongorian roe
I just stubbed my fucking toe
NOTE: Gongorism is considered a deliberately ornamental, meaningless and obscure style. It is reported to originate from the works of the Spanish poet Luis de Gongora y Argote (1561-1627), however, the exaggerations of his imitators (evidently) contributed more to the hits on his reputation than did his own work.

I still find that poem ridiculously funny.

Whatever you do, don't read anything by Darwin. I was infected for weeks after I read the Origin of Species for a history and philosophy of science class. I swear, every sentence was twice as long as need be. I'm still not settled enough in my own voice to be unaffected.

I GIVE UP! (slamming mouse into wall, across room). It will not take vista when I type it in.
The only thing it will let me do is go back into my profile and pull up the post I made this morning in Young Adult SYW.
I am stuck in cyber hell! @&%!

I know what you mean...but from a different slant. I don't like reading 'fluff'. That also means I don't like to write it either. My stuff tends to be a bit on the dry side. I have to go back and addddd that type of stuff in order to bring life to my folks. I still don't do a very good job with it. Sigh.

I am a prose girl myself.
Purple writing has always struck me as a writer forcing himself to stand out, to say look at me! I'm writing! It's as if a book, poem or story has to sound like a story rather than real life.
Either way, it must be stopped. :D

Ouch.
That's definitely not how I'd like to be remembered.
*deletes all of his beloved purple prose

I think I'm alone, but I would much rather read purple writing than Hemingway style minimalism.

It could be that you simply haven't posted enough and gained enough rep. on the boards to get in yet...
