(Note: I'm not sure if this counts for advertising or no, but it is a legit mentor request. Mods, feel free to move or delete if I posted in the wrong place.)

Actually, it's more than one teen and young adult writer seeking a mentor. Try dozens.

Elisabeth Wilhelm, editor of Absynthe Muse (http://www.absynthemuse.com), an online young adult and teen writing community, has double-teamed with Hope Clark, editor of FundsforWriters.com (http://www.fundsforwriters.com) to create a unique, free mentoring program that connects teen and young adult writers ages 13 to 22 with experienced adult writers. However, the majority of the population under the legal drinking age love to write sci-fi, fantasy, and horror, genres that we're having trouble covering on the mentor end. These teeming masses of highly intelligent, motivated, and talented young writers have no one they can be matched up to ("Hey Billy, I know you wanted a fantasy mentor, but I stuck you with this guy who really knows his way around technical writing!"). Please consider spreading good karma and consider applying for a position as mentor, and in the words of a teenager, represent!

You can learn about the mentoring program here:

Apply here for mentor:

If you can't do this for one reason or another, consider passing on the message to a writer friend who can.

if you've got any questions don't hesitate to contact either Elisabeth
(elisabeth@sent.com) or Hope (hopeclark1@aol.com).

Or post on this thread. :)

Thanks for your big heart.

Lis

I tried registering to your forums, but that was hours ago, and I never got a confirmation email.

EDIT: It was in junk-mail. Sorry. (Though I'd like to know how I change my password back to something I can remember.)

To add something to the topic: the mentoring program is a great idea, and very generous of the people volunteering to do it, too. Kudos to them. It's a blessing that people are willing to help those younger than them pursue their dreams.

Thanks to coding incompatibilities (gotta love open source), I'm having trouble coding for the current profile component to allow for people to change passwords on the front end. Right now, the only way it can be changed is for you to message me on the site (screen name: Lis) to change the password for you manually.

And you're right, mentors are the beating heart and soul of learning how to write and get published.
