I'm wondering if there are any formatting issues that I need to be aware of when sending an email query via a Macintosh computer. I've heard that I should avoid bold-facing and italicizing and underlining. Is that true? Am I supposed to be sure to send it in plain text only and how do I do that? And are there other issues I need to take into consideration? I want to be sure that my query and chapter, which I'll paste directly into the query don't end up as gibberish.
Thank you.

Run a test. Send a sample to someone you know who uses Windows.

1. Follow the submissions guides of the publisher.

2. See this on formatting a ms.

3. Save the file as ASCII text,or .txt (they are the same) and either attach it or copy it as the publisher instructs.

Partly it will depend on how you are sending it -- e-mail client, webmail, Word-for-Mac's send.... If you don't know, now is the time to pay atention to what you are clicking on, and what the resulting window calls itself (everyone should know what kind of software they are using for e-mail...*sigh*). If you are using a client program, get acquainted with its options. They all have options. They all have a button somewhere labeled "Help", which can be very helpful. I even use Help buttons ;) Webmail (webpage in a browser window for mail) has help too. I do not presume to offer any further advice, 'cause my friends don't give me old Macs ;)
