If there was some way I could run final draft and itunes at the same time it would save me more clicks in a week than I could count.

I find that one of (if not the only way) to really bring me into my writing is through music. Structure and plot movement is something which I do not need to raise the volume on but when it comes down to actually hammering out inspirational scenes I can not imagine life without music.

I have been working on an Fantasy epic for the past six years and can not even begin to remember the number of downloads and cd purchases I have made which have become parcel to writing through all hours of the night.

Anyone else?

I don't listen to anything, really. I used to but found that when writing and playing music at the same time, I would inevitably wind up leaning back and playing drum beats on my desk because that doesn't take near as much effort as writing.

Now, the only thing I listen to is the hum of my A.C. and the click-clacking of my keyboard while I write my arse off.

I find music slows me down, too. I sometimes wear headphones with nothing playing, they act as noise reducers, taking the edge off distractions, e.g.

The unused microphone may also act as a nostril pacifier.

There are only certain times when I can write while listening to music. If I'm at a part of my script where I know exactly where I'm going and how it should be executed, then music helps me along. If I'm at a point where I'm having to do a lot of thinking then music will only distract and slow me down.
