If this is already in a thread somewhere on here, I appologize in advance!
I was wondering, when an agent says they want a few chapters along with the initial query, do they want the FIRST few?
They don't often specify exactly which chapters they want, so I'm wondering if I can send, say, the first two and then the last one?
If anyone can help, thank you!

Always start at the beginning. So if they ask for one chapter, send the first chapter. If three, send the first three.

In fiction, it's a pretty amateur move to send chapters out of sequence. Reason being, the agent wants to see if the book can hook and hold the reader's attention. So a later chapter is irrelevant to that analysis.

good luck.

Always send the first chapters. If they want three, send chapters 1-3. Never out of sequence and always from the very beginning chapter.
