Hi. I'm also loving this YA forum. So much to see. Such good advice. Brava(o)!
Everyone seems so fun and helpful. Just posted by first thread.
I'm an editor in Advertising, but have been writing Historical Fiction for the last six years. The research on Bibliotheque nationale de France was extensive, and I got so sick of it I started a YA story.

Now, I'm halfway finished, like the way it's going, AND I discovered the AW water cooler. Yeah.

Terri:
My YA is either Urban Fantasy or Fantasy. It's set in Galway, Ireland.

Sanstormin: Interesting. It would be cool if you'd post a summary or blurb of the story so we can see what it's about. No pressure, I'm just curious.

I quite like the idea of reading an urban fantasy that's set in Ireland.

And yes, if you want to post the synopsis, you just paste it into a regular message. There is a thread specifically for sharing syns and queries in the Share Your Work forum (the password is Vista). Usually people only post these when they're ready for critique so if you're just sharing for general feedback, I'd mention it at the top of your post.

For General Feedback: EdgeWarder: Galway

Genre: Urban Fantasy
Plot type: competitive Quest
S.S. Rice 2009

Cash is sixteen, has charm and wealth, and is on a study tour in Galway, Ireland. He’s looking for the ultimate adventure. His first day there, he defends a girl, Kate, and fights off her mugger. But something is wrong–the guy is not a simple thug.

When he questions Kate about the attacker, she shrugs him off, then finally admits it was a Fae. And she might have something he wants. She tells him her life is too crazy, and to leave her alone. He’s never been dumped, so is more intrigued than ever.

Kate has lived a secret life for the past two years guarding a relic stolen from the Faeries. She is wary of the American Ninja, but attracted at the same time. Her deep desire is to stay in Galway and be normal. Mostly, she’s afraid of realizing her potential.

The thug is Irial Arondane, the rightful heir to the Amulet, desperate to get it back before the rift between the Iron Realm and Faery closes. He is captivated by Kate and her warrior spirit.

It’s not until Cash’s roomie J.W. is kidnapped and taken to Dublin, that everyone understands just how powerful the relic is, and that several factions will go to any lengths to get it.

Sa’nen, a powerful Royal Fae is after the Amulet. He needs it to get the Fae barons on his side by wiping their memories. With new alliances, he can supplant the Queen. He sends an agent to the Iron Realm.

The most powerful seeker is the Faery Queen, who wants to keep the relic from Sa’nen, who will use it to unseat her. To confuse him, she hires a human crime boss whom she gives special magics to retrieve the Amulet.

With so many dangers, Cash decides to even the odds, so he seeks magic from the Queen. She complies, but like all bargains with the Fae, it has unintended consequences. The gift has a curse which interferes with his pursuit of Kate.

Events in Ireland unfold, plotting Fae against human in a quick-paced David-vs.Goliath quest where no holds are barred.

You might want to rename your faery "thug" - Irial's the name of a dark faery in Melissa Marr's INK EXCHANGE.

But I reallly like the synopsis! And I love that it's set in Ireland. :)

THANK YOU for letting me know about the name. I haven't read that book.
I got Irial from an Irish resource online. Obviously can't use it now. Wah.
