I'm with you. I thought Rorschach was the best developed character in the movie. I have not read the graphic novel yet. I have to go in my son's room and find it.
Rorschach is the best written and acted, but something about Nite Owl II and Silk Spectre II overcoming their personal crap (or learning to live with it) in finding each other and becoming heroes makes them my personal favorite.
In the film Rorschach was amazingly performed and I liked him much better than in the book. But of them all I'd have to say Dan aka Night Owl II. What can I say? I like nice cute guys with glasses who are also independently wealthy genius inventors that kick serious butt.
Movie just didn't have enough time to do Dan justice, and even though I didn't like the change to Rorschach's character when it comes to when he "becomes" Rorschach with the child killer guy... well... Rorschach is still just great. The prison scene - nuff said.
