Makes me think of that commercial where Abe Lincoln tears off his shirt and breaks a chair over people and goes to town on them. That commercial makes me laugh every time. If any president would make a good vampire hunter, it would be him. He's got a long reach. lol.

I'm with Puma. This trivialises everything Lincoln was actually about.

Why do we have to drag big themes in history to our own petty level?

With all of the vampires romping through literature these days, we need a determined vampire hunter.

And vampires like they should be. Evil, not blummin soft!

Did you see the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

And we worry about tiny, itsy-bitsy details? I'm with Puma.

I actually look forward to Honest Abe takin' down bloodsuckers.

Also, via that generator, Eleanor of Aquitaine as a biker. ;)

Heh. I always wondered what would have happened if Lincoln had noticed Booth sneaking up on him. The President was huge, and a famed wrestler in his day!

I'm imagining Lincoln knocks Booth's pistol away and while the puny actor fumbles for his knife Abe presses him overhead, steps to the edge of the balcony, and throws Booth to the stage!

Naturally Booth would suffer a broken leg... history has a way of course-correcting... and then Abe would say something cool and latin, Like "Sic semper pencilneckgeekis-- BEEYOTCH!"

And since history course-corrects, Abe would then likely perish trying to finish Booth off with a Jimmy Snuku-style flying body press from the balcony rail.

OK, you can have the thread back now, I'm done.

Anyone catch the recent news that a researcher thinks Lincoln had an illness that would have been fatal within a year from the time he was shot? Apparently there's going to be testing on a piece of his blood-stained shirt. Wonder if that will get incorporated into the vampire slaying. Puma

Abe Lincoln has a legacy in his own right. There are plenty of other less documented politicians, criminals and heroes that I would say would be better candidates for mythologistic folklore.

I think using one of the most documented figures in history would ruin the read for me because I would know right away that it is a non-plausible idea.

Even though Sci Fi and Fantasy are mostly imagination, I have to buy into the philosophy right away or I won't be able to read due to the yawn principle.

Therefore I say: hogwash. Let them waste their money. Got lucky once, I doubt this will redouble his credibility.

I'm a stickler. And I can't help but be appalled by this. I was appalled enough by Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. But this revulsion goes way beyond.

I don't like this whole genetic testing thing either. They refused to test his bone samples for Marfan's because it would be an invasion of his privacy. How is this any different?

This is not a case of unknown identity like the Lost Dauphin. We can study Lincoln forever, but please, just let the man rest.

This researcher - Dr. Zebra (actually Dr. John Sotos who has written two books on Lincoln's health) - proposes that Lincoln had multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2B - explained in detail here along with multiple other ailments poor Mr. Lincoln apparently suffered. Fascinating stuff.

Remember that scene in the movie 300 where Leonidas is a boy and out in the wilderness during his "fox time"? (Part of the training at the agoge) He meets up with this terrible appearing wolf creature with glowing red eyes. I think this is irrefutable evidence that Leonidas was most likely bitten and turned into a werewolf, therefore my next novel will center on that. As a matter of fact, if his 300 were all werewolves, that could explain how they held up so well at Thermopylae. Interesting... ;)
