Triceretops - this was answered in your nearly identical post yesterday. Both of these questions. And you were advised to send a PM for more specific help.

1 - It's most likely your email service. It's consistently that a member's email server is bouncing the emails from the AW server. There are workarounds, but they require, y'know, reading the answers to your prior questions and following directions.

2 - I've pruned the non-active members names, spammers, and banned-for-more-than-a-year accounts from the database. I made an announcement when I DID it.

I've just looked at your settings - you have automatic subscriptions turned off.

Sorry, Mac. I didn't mean to miff you or any of the mods at all. I checked back on the Bulletin Board and didn't see an answer to my question. So I didn't bother entering the thread. What I failed to realize is that my answer was in Medievalist's OP message. Which now I understand has to do with my Hotmail problem. My fault for not reading the entire message.

Uh, I'm not aggressive or demanding. When it comes to tech, I'm totally stupid and lost.

Okay, no worries. I'm down with a brutal sinus headache today, and quite possibly reading poorly. You've asked about this in three or four posts in two days, where we keep trying to answer you and you seemed to just be moving on to post the same question somewhere else, and I was getting frustrated.

Have you got something besides hotmail where we can send your thread subscription messages? We've had really good luck working this issue out with folks.

And I'm sorry for being so snappish.

Get a gmail account. Go here:

http://mail.google.com/mail/signup

It's free.

It's in all honesty one of the easiest to use Email programs I've ever used.

There's Help here:

Thanks guys. Honest to dog I've been checking back and looking but didn't catch the answers. I even went to my user section and tried to discipher the listings. Under "Additional Options" below, I have hitting the "instant email" drop-down, but that hasn't been working. So I'll try to find the "automatic email" thing that you've mentioned. That must be in my user thingy.

Thanks, M. I'll switch over if all else fails. Appreciate the links.

Chris, what browser are you using? Sometimes people have trouble with their pop-up blockers, or they don't have cookies enabled for the site. (And one way or the other, by gawd we've got you here now, so we might as well troubleshoot right here on the thread.) *g*

This is where I'll be showing my complete lameness for terms and processes. I'm Homer dumb when it comes to this...but I think my browser is Big Blue E? Does that make sense? My inbox says "hotmail."

I suspect the problem is that you have an msn.com email address in your profile, so the threads aren't actually even being mailed to you.

I'm trying to understand which email address you're using, Chris, and whether your downloading your email to a local client, because the more steps those notifications have to get through, the greater the chance of them going missing.

Just tell me what is the email address you want thread notifications sent to?

Okay. It's showing up as a live address, and it's the address you have in your profile (which has me confused about the hotmail connection -- but that's just me) Next, you're sure you have [email protected] whitelisted on your account?

Um, no - it will be in your personal settings on whatever you're using to read your email. Are you retrieving it from the web, or reading it in something like outlook?

Well, it's my Windows Live Hotmail page--the one I use to read my inbox messages. In which case I meant "tools" (not options) on the upper bar. They instruct how to enable or disable pop-up blocker settings. I added [email protected] to that list and saved, to see if that was it.

Sorry I'm so dense with this.

It's okay - have you already checked your spam/junk filter? And yes, check under "tools" but we'll go and take a look at their help files, too, and see if we can find anything more helpful.

I just want to help you get it fixed, too, Chris - because I know it's got to be really frustrating not to be able to use the features of the site like they're built to be used. Do the subscribed threads show up in your user CP?

Nope. We just found where your notification emails are being bounced by the hotmail server. Hundreds of them.

Check your email, if you would, and see if you have an email from AWTriceretops (at) yahoo (dot) com?
