I recently completed a horror. I was hesitant to write it as I knew it would be rather scary.
I let it sit for a few months before touching it beyond the most basic synopses. (Big mistake).
I went to bed one night and I was looking straight out from my bed. A few moments later (or so I thought) this dark creature from my story crawled after me. It was five feet away, then three feet, then it was right next to my bed right in front of me. It touched my bed and it was gone into my bed. I was freaking out, screaming, the whole deal. My husband came into the bedroom thinking I was being attacked. I sort of was.
The freakiest thing about it is it was right there in my room, the room was exactly like it was when I laid down and I thought I was awake when I saw it. Even as I blinked my eyes and woke up it hadn't changed. Detail for detail it was exact. My monster had just come after me.
My husband didn't let me live it down for a very long time.
It's funny though, as long as I write the horror stories that come to me, I never ever have nightmares (well as long as I don't write them right before bed or in the dark). But if I don't write them when they come to me, they will literally come after me.
Does this happen to anyone else?
