Just picked up a book that has an interesting and informative take on the Western genre. It's called "Horizons West." Although it's focused on Western movies, it still has some interesting points about the stock Western images, characters, and how the perceptions of them have changed or developed through the years and in the hands of some very skilled directors. http://www.amazon.com/Horizons-West-Directing-Eastwood-Classics/dp/1844570509/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239389725&sr=1-1

You mean the 1929 version? Try http://www.amazon.com/Virginian-VHS-Gary-Cooper/dp/6301986911/ref=sr_1_32?ie=UTF8&s=video&qid=1239745141&sr=8-32

It's on VHS and used, but it's the Cooper version.
