Story call-out for bird writers

With Spring just around the corner, I wanted to update you on books in our Ultimate series.

Our retailers have specifically asked us for two titles this fall; one that's been on the list, The Ultimate Runner, and one newly added, The Ultimate Bird Lover. To be published in November 2009, our deadline for submissions on these two books is June 15, 2009.

You'll also find everything you need to know about format and submission guidelines, and our FAQ section addresses any questions you may have on compensation and rights assignment for published material.

The Ultimate Runner will feature full-color photography and true stories from beginning runners to Ironman veterans, celebrating what's good (finishing, beating your best time, the wind at your back), bad (morning runs in 32-degree weather, blisters at mile 2, no batteries in your iPod), and funny (what's not to laugh about?) about running.

The Ultimate Bird Lover will feature photos capturing the beauty of our feathered friends and true stories from beginning birders to those who have loved birds for years, celebrating what’s good, challenging, and downright funny about these angels with wings.


Three recent releases in the series are just arriving in stores; The Ultimate Mom, The Ultimate Gardener and The Ultimate Teacher. And there are several other titles, with deadlines closed, that we are working on with our retailers to determine optimum publication dates. If you submitted material for one of these titles, we thank you for your patience and we will be in touch with everyone whose material is under consideration once we get our scheduling firmed up.
