Hi, new here - can you help
As you may be aware i'm a newbie! however i was wondering if you kind people may be able to assist me. As a 39! year old railway career minded man (been in this industry since leaving school). I now have a aspiration to get into radio comedy script writing, as my advancing years is pulling me into writing. I have an idea for a possible radio comedy pilot and was wondering where to find an interested individual to join me as a possible writing partner?

I can honestly say i'm not a timewaster and I am very keen to progress my enthusiasm in this field. Any help would be well received.

Cheers, Allan

Dear Allen,

Protect your project (Copyright) BEFORE you discuss it with anybody.

Good luck

Allan, if you're gonna collaborate, then you'll be working with an idea, which you can't copyright.

Additionally, you'll HAVE to trust someone you collaborate with them.

If you want to work with someone, and it's not someone you've bounced an idea around with until you decide, "Hey, y' know, we should write this up and pitch it." The fact is, you're gonna have to go out on a limb.

MOST people won't screw you over. Doesn't mean you won't get unlucky. But anyone lazy enough to steal an idea is likely too lazy to do the work involved to make it work.

Collaboration means trust. Because setting aside the fact that you MUST share, you have to be open creatively and to do THAT, there must be trust.

Good luck.

I guess "Wordmonkey" is right, since it's still an idea. My bad.

Forgot to mention, you can post your wroting in the Share Your Work section of AW. Post the first five pages. You should get some good feedback and if it's any good, folks will likely ask for more to read and you'll get more critique-age.

Off the top of my head...

Check for local writers groups in your area.
If you notice a colleague of yours is an avid reader, ask if they do any writing (I've met fellow writers at work like this).
Go to your local comedy club night and socialise with the comedians and the promoters.
