Time travel story.

These three words hold more stories, dreams, wishes, and headaches than almost any other words in the human language.

Well, that and "lets be friends"

Why do we keep writing Time Travel Stories? Is it because we desperately yern to change the past? Or is it something else?

Either way, time travel has been shown in MANY art forms, sometimes in a good way-

GREAT SCOTT!

And sometimes, in a...not...so...good way...

Ugh

But Time Travel has only been in a scant few computer games. Final Fantasy 1 and 8 dabbed in that, but I refuse to play a game where THIS is our hero:

There can be only oneeeeennghhhwhinewhinewhine

Also, there's Chronotrigger, but I'll be five days dead till I play a Japanese RPP. Stupid plots, annoying characters, poorly writt-

<five paragraph rant about the inadequacy of JRPGs removed for your convenience -Ed>

But, till yesterday, there was only ONE series of games that had time travel in it (as far as I know) that was not a JRPG. And this game series?

Red Alert!

But the thing is, the Red Alert series handled time travel as a plot device to explain why Hitler didn't exist, or why Japan has psychic school girls who can crush tanks with their miiiiinds!

Also, I can kill you with my mind.

But now, I present to you, a video game that came out tommorow, a game that wll already create a brand new genera!

Not the Real Time Stratagy Game, but rather, the Real Meta-Time Stratagy Game!

ACHRON!

For those who actually have a life and won't watch the video (if you have a life, why are you wasting it on this thread? Go! Go out and play!) I shall explain.

Achron is a game where you control units. You build a base, gather monies, build units, then destroy the enemy units.

The only difference is, you can travel through time.

For example, you can find out when an enemy is attacking, travel BACK in time to BEFORE the attack and position your units accordingly.

Only to find that he's used the distraction to send his commando BACK IN TIME and then use said commando to blow up your factories before you built all your units.

And then your units slowly fade out of existence, like Marty McFly.

Ow.

Also, you can send your units back in time and have them kill their past selves.

Ow.

Ow!

Sorry, the paraxdoxes are...making my...headache.

And did I mention this is all multiplayer capable, so you're not just fighting against A.Is, but you're also battling humans.

And...you can...OW...go into the future and...OW!

My head...it...

GAH!

On the subject of RPGs, check out Suikoden 2, Suikoden 3 and Suikoden 5 (and Suikoden 1, though it's very old). All plot and character. I love them with my life.
