I finished reading this post-apocalyptic book about a boy who struggles to help his family survive following a nuclear bomb explosion. I really enjoyed it, though at times it was hard for me to form pictures of what was happening in my head, such as a few scenes in the hospital. I have no idea what a gurney is. But then again, there is so much I don't know in the world. I can't even picture hills surrounding a city side.
Also, the book's ending didn't tie up all loose ends. We never found out what happened to Phillip's father. It was like the ending of Stuart Little, with the story ending before it should have.
Other than that, the story was very good. I could clearly picture the atmosphere and how life had changed following the disaster.
