I have been attending a creative writing class by one of my favorite authors, Anita Stansfield. In the class she had mentioned that there are story tellers and then there are writers. She feels she is a better story teller than writer and has to work hard at the writing part... but has been blessed with a tallent.
I did not quite understand what she meant. I always figured that I am just bad at writing... Then I spoke to another dear friend, Saundra Julian (who, in my op is an amazing writer!) that took the time to read some of what I have been writing with the promise of an honest review. She came back and told me that I had a great outline, but that that is what it was, an outline.... Then it all clicked as I looked back on it and tried to turn my story into something someone can relate too. I started to look through the eyes of my character and describe what she felt, saw, thought, tasted...yadda, yadda, yadda.
I just wanted to share and let you know that sometimes it takes an open mind and great desire, along with persistance to achieve :)
