Which is better for finding Prodco's that are accepting queries and submissions. I have found imdb easier to use, but hcd does list if a company is accepting submissions. Imdb does not seem to list this valuable piece of info.

I haven't tried either, but I have been able to browse scriptpimp and I'm quite impressed with their setup.
you've probably tried this, but i use imdbpro as a starting point and then scrounge their website and other sources. granted, i'm looking for internship info.
scriptpimp is fine as well, but it can be hit or miss. i don't think their updates, provided by users, are edited by the staff (unlike imdb).
I pay the annual fee for imdbpro rather than per month and it's a lot cheaper than hcd.

Both are beyond my means I am planning to use imdb for one month . Are there any affordable site where the production companies are listed for spec scripts?

I've used both and HCDOnline.com for me is way easier to search and use to organize a query blitz. I found IMDBPro very difficult to get stuff done on.
I'm curious about the PIMP too - might check it out after scripts #4 and #5 are ready to go.

HCDonline is good, but sometimes if you know WHO to target imdbpro can be extra handy...
on HCD online you have people under a company but they usually don't really specify what they usually go after, thats where IMDBpro comes in handy, you can look up the actual person, and IMDBpro will actually give you the person's history, like if they've actually been attached to anything that got made, and how long they've been around.
