I was just thinking about this when I made my last post to another thread.
When I first started working on erotica, I couldn't write if my husband was anywhere NEAR me. This might have worked fine, because I often get insomnia, but I swear EVERY time I sat down to write anything erotic, he'd get up in the middle of the night to play on the computer. Every time. I started trying to outwait him, even when I was ready for sleep. Didn't work.
I finally just told him what was going on - he didn't have a clue - and so when he was going to bed, he'd say "OK, I'm going to bed, I won't be getting up again." He's a sweetie. He was really apologetic, but I pointed out that it was sort of my problem
We finally got to the point where I could actually write this stuff during the day - he can't see my computer screen from his desk - and once I could do that, a different problem developed.
The woodstove is directly behind me; we keep tea water and coffee going all the time, plus just behind me is the perfect place to stand when you're chilly and wanna toast out. So every time he'd get up, I'd alt-tab out to another webpage or document, waitingwaitingwaiting. Eventually he'd sit back down and I'd go back to work. Really killed the mood. It was pretty silly, frankly, because he was far enough away that he couldn't read the screen from where he was for the most part, and wouldn't try anyway.
I've mostly gotten over it. As a matter of fact, at this point, I can take the laptop to bed and have no problem working on those scenes. It helped when I finally let him *read* some of the damn stuff. (He finally asked: "So do I ever get to see any of this?" My initial response was "Not in this lifetime." but I got over that, too.)
Anyway, I'm curious - anyone else get the heebie jeebies writing around their spouse or SO? (And thankfully, I don't have kids. I'd need a small room with a lock on the door - lol)

But I am who I am.
