I'm finding that how much writing I do correlates to how bored I am. Lately, we've had a re-org at work and things have been fairly frantic; since I'm still doing lots of distance on the rowing machine, weekday hours when I'm not either working or rowing are pretty limited. Weekends (aside from a two hour row one day and another hour either rowing or lifting weights the other) are for recovery. My brain doesn't seem to have the wherewithal to create new stuff; for me, boredom generates creativity. When I'm busier I get attacked by new material much less often, and more often I have to make myself write something.

Just curious. Is this true for others, or do you make more poems when you're busiest? Or is there no correlation for you?

my fount of crativity sputters once a day, like old faithful :)

Actually, I think it's more cyclical than anything. If I'm creative for a burst of like a week, the next week is less so.

whose slender hands tighten
around my neck, constrict
blood flow to my
creativity?

and spin in a dizzying
clench of repetitious
excuses, the short one
always moving
too fast

it's two things for me:]
1. the busier i am with work, home, things like doing taxes - the less 'me' time, and writing falls into my 'me' time; therefore, less productive though if i have a brief creative spark i try to at least make a note so i can come back to it later when there is time

2. if i steal a few moments in the middle of the day or night to log on to AW and read other people's stuff it often sparks my own creativity. if i have time to do something about it then i do, otherwise again i make a note.... so i pop in and out of AW sometimes with only moments to spend, sometimes with hours.

Although when I'm really busy, I have less time that I can spend writing, I seem to be more creative. I like have loads to do, so that's when most of my ideas come to me. Although creative doesnt always = productive.
