What agents' blogs out there do you enjoy reading? The only one I know of is Miss Snarky, but I'm looking for others who tell it like it is and give authors some insight into how the world of publishing works. Suggestions?

It's Miss Snark, and she hasn't written anything in ages (and isn't going to).

You can try Kristen Nelson's blog:

http://pubrants.blogspot.com

for one.

I also suggest you go over to the Bewares and Background Checks board, as a number of threads there have links to agents' blogs.

Have fun! :)

I like Colleen Lindsay's blog (http://theswivet.blogspot.com/). Also, a lot of them link their blogs to each other. So you can find more by checking whose blogs they've got linked.

There's plenty of links on the Writer Beware (http://accrispin.blogspot.com/) blog.

Miss Snark's is a classic and well worth reading the Snarkives. The things she wrote about, especially the Crapometer Contests, are worth anyone's time.

Rachelle Gardner has a good blog (http://cba-ramblings.blogspot.com/) too. It's specifically Christian, but most of it is applicable across the board. Janet Reid is a fan. I read all of the above except Jonathan Lyons'. Jennifer Jackson also has one called Et in arcaedia, ego (http://arcaedia.livejournal.com/).

... the Snarkives. It has done more to help authors with queries that most books on queries. It has frustrated more agents with author's wonderful queries to our terrible books than could be imagined.

And I have good reason to believe that Ms. Snark roams the halls of AW once in a while.

Maybe we will see a shadow or a glint of light in the corner and know she is sharpening her heels for one last blast.

Or, maybe she is already out and about disguised as the mild-mannered agent in charge of cookies and tea.

Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket. Children's books. She could be doing children's books.
