Romance Artwork - Harlequin/Silhouette Nocturne
Hey folks! I'm new to this board and romance in general but not new to writing. I was hoping some of you more experienced members might be able to answer a question for me about paranormal romance artwork (specifically, Silhouette Nocturne)?
Do Harlequin authors have any control over their cover artist? For example, if an author is inspired by a certain artist and that artist has privately agreed to do cover work for the author in the event of publishing, do you think the Harlequin art department would consider working with that artist, or is that too much to hope for? If they'd consider it, are there any negotiation tips you can offer for securing the artist as part of the deal?
I know it's not usually a hard sell in other markets (like fantasy), but from what I've read, romance tends to be kind of non-negotiable when it comes to artwork. Just wondering! And thanks!
