"Shallowest" popular band?

Cause they were just crap.

I used to LOVE Van Halen, especially Sammy Hager. I am voting for them becuase I think Eddie is shallow, and has run Van Halen, something great, into the ground for his own ego and greed. He can kiss my a$$ as I go and by Sammy's new album!

Though I do think Poison is shallow, they haven't pissed me off.

Oh I love Poison, but they revel in shallowness.

Well this poll was definitely a tough call. Lotsa shallowness.

Too many good picks here... and at least three that I don't agree with: The Cure, The Smiths and Journey.

Popular? Every last one of these bands is 100 30 years old. I expected to see Buck Cherry and Nickleback on a list of shallow "popular" bands. If you're going to go back this far, why not include The Partridge Family and the Monkees?

That's cheating, those bands were MANUFACTURED to be shallow. After all, TV is the lowest common denominator.

I nominate Nickelback whose latest song is entirely composed of cliches and popular sayings with not one original word in it. it's like they found a copy of a popular quote book and just pulled them out randomly.

Okay, but how can we call a band "popular" when it hasn't had a top 40 hit in decades? Not one of these bands has had a single popular hit since the Reagan era.

Ack!!

The 80s was the worst decade for music in my lifetime and I'm pretty frickin' old. It started coming back again in the 90s. (Although the last year or two has been pretty blah.)

There have been a ton of shallow bands but currently, none worse than Nickelback IMO.
