For those screenwriters out there, has anyone thought about backdooring their way into the industry. I am a screenwriter who just finished my senior year at Cal State Northridge. And since this is my senior year and I am a million miles away from home and annot go back if you all know what I mean, I have begged and pleaded with my professors about helping me through this industry. Needless to day that many of the profs here at the schools in L.A. have many contacts and are very helpful. However, that does no good for you guys who don't live anywhere near the state of California.

But he told me that maybe I should try to get on staff as a writer somewhere and work my way up by meeting people and gradually introducing my background on screenplay writing to them. he said of course once you get your foot in the door you're just about there. So I took his advice and started trying to get my writing resume out to a lot of production companies. Needless to say, I got everything returned back to me unread. Why? Because you still need a doggone third party referral. Well, I know you guys must know how difficult it is to get an agent and/or manager to do your stuff for you.

After searching high and low, I found a company that did resume submissions for writers. I also found out that the lead consultant has many industry contacts and is affiliated well. I got my resume submitted to various companies and I am now a staff assistant in the writing department. So I guess I got my pinky toe in the door. That's good I guess. Now I can eventually work my way up. The pay is good enough to live decent here in L.A. which you all know can be hell without proper planning.

If anybody wants to backdoor their way, they can email me and I will give them the company info. It's worth a shot if you're interested in breaking in the industry.
