Hello everyone!
My friend ChunkyC has been talking about Absolute Write for months and months, saying what a fab place it is, so here I've finally come to see what all the fuss is about. ^_^ Honestly, I have been looking for a forum like this for a good couple of years, one where people actually participate, are serious about what they're doing, and aren't just looking to get their egos stroked...
My writing aspirations fall into the science fiction and fantasy genres. I'm partial to mixing the two to a certain degree, and lean more towards sociological sf rather than hard sf. I have a few projects on the go, all in various stages of disarray and development. I haven't quite decided which audience (adolescent, young adult, adult) I want to write for so sometimes my style goes all over the place. Mostly I'm just trying to push through and actually finish something--I'll decide who I'd really like it to be aimed at later.
I edit freelance also. Editing is a primary career goal for me. I've worked on a number of titles so far and a handful of them are now published or in production to be published, much to my delight. Just like my writing preference, science fiction and fantasy works top my list of things to edit, but, hey, work is work so I'm open to almost anything. Since I don't (yet) garner enough work to do it full time, I work for an insurance company to pay the bills. Thankfully it feeds my editing habit a bit too: I spend a lot of time checking insurance policies for accuracy before sending them out to clients.
So, that, in a nutshell, is pretty much me, from a writer/editor standpoint. ^^
See you around the boards!
