With my recent writing project (I'm currently working on the second in the series), I've been noticing that (after the fact), I've been meeting a lot of people with the same first names as my characters. This is especially ironic because some of these characters have names from other languages (They are a mixed nationality family where the mother is
Métis and the father is Hungarian). When I told two of the individuals (both from the university I attend) they shared names with my characters, they found it amusing. One laughed her head off.
In one of my earlier projects, the MC had the same name as an individual who would later be my doctor. It was also a relatively unusual name.
I guess the only thing I could do to prevent this would be to change my characters' names to unpronounceable symbols as Prince did with his band.
Opening: My name is @#! and I'm 12-years-old. I have walked this way to school for as long as I can remember and never found anything unusual until today. (P.S. not a real quote from any of my projects, just something awful I composed on the spot.)
