How many of you are married to "tough guys" who give you a romantic line every now and then that just breaks your heart you know you will use it in a book?

My DH did this the other night....he had a bad day at work and fussed terribly. I had a bad day at home, listened to him fuss, did not say much about my day. He goes to bed very early as he gets up very early, so I went up to say goodnight and just started to cry out of the blue (mostly stress, light PMS, etc). And my "tough guy" says " Ah honey, don't cry, did you know your tears are like rain on my soul and your smile is like sunshine?"

So I did what every strong female does....I just cried more. He is really wonderful, even if he fusses every now and then.

Sounds like you've got a treasure there. And you'll probably get a scene out of the situation, for your book...call it a win-win scenario!

My husband is the greatest guy on earth, but he's not great with words (thankfully his actions more than make up for that). I will use the stuff he says that comes out all wrong (it happens a lot with him) when he's trying to be nice but his words just don't quite make it there. I know him and his way with words well enough that it always makes me start laughing. He adds as much humor as he does love to my books. He'll read my manuscripts and give me that one raised eyebrow look when he notices a scene that is close to what he's actually said and done. It's great fun.

I do not miss the days of counting down to Hubby's arrival home. The last day is the worst. I am glad your husband will be home soon. Mine is home all the time and I love it.

My guy has given me a few lines that I've either already used in a story or jotted down for future use. Sometimes it's romantic, sometimes comical and sometimes downright crude. But, it's all good.

My husband is not the most eloquent of souls and he's about as romantic as a bag of rocks most of the time (but he is loveable) but I have used one or two of his sayings in my books. Most notably, "she has a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp."

I didn't marry a tough guy. I got one of the sappy, emotional ones that leaves me little notes when he wakes up before me and carries me in the snow when my feet are frozen because I, like a newb, wore shoes with mesh sides.

And I use his actions for my romance heroes left and right.

My husband is like that sometimes. We'll fuss and then he'll come over later and hug and kiss me and tell me how beautiful I am. Lately he has been composing long, thoughtful, sweet letters to me. I have fourteen so far. And he draws me pictures. In one letter he told me, "You are the sun to wake me up in the morning, and the moon at night to put me to sleep." I smiled so much and I wanted to cry. Sometimes, I like it when we fuss. The love making is always really good later!!!!
