Is there any interest in a practice thread?

Over in the Erotica board I put up a thread once a week for folks to practice on. Not really a thread for criticism, but rather encouragement. We have a poll once a week for four or five days and then post a thread on the favorite topic. Folks write a paragraph, a page, sometimes a short story and post it. The idea is to keep practicing your art.

Any interest for a practice thread in SciFi\Fantasy?

Sounds interesting...but perhaps a better location for that would be in the SF/F section of Share Your Work.

Right. I already host a thread on Erotica. I was asking if there would be interest in me putting up a weekly or even bi-weekly thread on SF/F SYW. That would make two, practice threads.

I enjoy them, but if no one plays along, then it's just posting my random practice work.

I think the peeps who frequent both here and the SYW sub-forum for SF/F have a monthly writing challenge that uses themes. Like Peter, I don't mind the idea, but I'll wait and let the members weigh in, too. :)

That's what I was going to suggest. We already have the monthly challenges, with multiple prompts each month that average out to one per week. Sometimes it gets a lot of response, sometimes not so much.

Here's (http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=126351) the January thread, with some discussion of what if anything to do for February. Possibly combine the two ideas?

Since we have a 'short story' challenge thread, we could still have a 'excerpt' practice thread. Say 400 words tops? *shrugs*
