Is there information available on what fonts and type sizes are most often used by publishers? Is 12-pt. the standard? Is 10-pt. often used? Is TNR more popular in books than Adobe Jenson Pro or Raskolnikov Slightly Flattened? (I made up the last one.) I'm surprised that "googling" what seems like a basic and concrete question produces more frustration than enlightenment. Maybe someone here knows.

That's not something writers have to worry about. All we need concern ourselves with is presenting our books in correct manuscript format and letting the publishers do with it what they will.

(There are plenty of threads on AW about correct manuscript format, incidentally).

Thank you for taking the time to not answer my question. Perhaps someone will answer it. (I am very familiar with correct manuscript format, incidentally.)

That's a difficult one. I've got a paperback in front of me that says it is "set in 10 & a half on 12pt Linotype ITC Garamund". Another one says it's set in 11/12pt Melior.

Sometimes the information can be found on the page saying who published and when etc., so maybe check out several books on your bookshelf.

Not really answerable

It is a question that really has no answer. Larger books use larger point sizes (at least some of the time).

Type faces vary. Garamond is common. Bembo. Baskerville.

I am a font aficionado. I see many different typefaces.

For me it doesn't matter, this is answerable by the book publisher.

I always figure that if I ask the question for which I want the answer, I will get the right answer. So if I want to know what font/size is most commonly used for manuscripts that are to be submitted to publishers, I ask about that. Actually, I mostly just read a lot of threads, nodding and muttering to myself (thankful that no one can see or hear me). But that's me, I'm weird :D

um...and dreadfully snarky
