make the link go to a post within the thread?

For instance, the link in my sig to the transcript thread opens an individual post. But I'd like it to go to the post within the thread, just like 'new posts' does.

Hopefully this is what you're looking for...

Use the showthread URL:

http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3258367#post3258367

instead of the showpost URL that's in your sigline:

http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3258367&postcount=2

Perfect! I can see the difference in the code (and could manually fix it), but is there an easy way to generate that type of url?

When you view the single post?

Hover your cursor over the "Thread:" URL at the top right of the post.

You can right-click/Copy Shortcut to capture this.
