So, I was reading the fanfiction thread a few threads down (well, it is as I create this) and also read the mention from Tanya Huff's blog.
A question for the published authors here: is there a clause in your publishing contract that forces you to sue people who write fanfiction based on your work? If so, what publisher are you with? What does the clause say?
Does it also apply to fanart?
Does anyone have further information on this?
I'm so interested on account of sites like fanfiction.net and deviantart.com where there's a lot of people posting fanfiction and fanart from television shows, books, movies, etc. It seemed like as long as they acknowledged the source and didn't profit off the material they made, it was okay. So I admit I'm very confused.
