24 is kicking it this season.....

Looks like the CIP McGuffin is over already this season and the next bit will be Bauer and company hunting down the prime minister's rival Dubaku with the prez's blessing.

Wished they hadn't killed Carly Pope off so quick -- no real eye candy till Kim returns.

Who wants to take bets on how long it takes for Dubaku's girlfriend to discover the truth about him and kick it?

The self-sacrificing plant manager storyline was a little hokey and jingoist -- wouldn't such a plant have proper coverings and SCUBA-type gear in case the insecticide leaked?

I haven't watched tonight's episode yet. But ... I don't know. I already mentioned this in a couple other threads, but I don't think 24 does much for me anymore. I enjoyed it the first few seasons, then got really fed up with the outrageousness and dumped it around season three or four. I came back for season 5 with Logan, which was pretty awesome.

I can't get into it this year. I record it and then find myself distracted by other things while I watch. Same thing happened last season, too.

I did like the opening, though, with Jack being questioned by the committee. The "in your face" moment was nice.

I have weird feelings for 24.

Its exciting and gripping...but...its almost too gripping. When I watched the first season, I feel like I had been on an adrenalin high for the entire season and like...

I dunnkow. I just didn't like how it made me feel when it was over. All drained and like...hurty.

Weird, huh? Its supposed to be tense and action packed...but its TOO tense.

I'm a weakling.

What does "kicking it" mean?

I'm serious; I've never heard or seen this expression--what is the "it" that's being kicked?

Kickin it to the pedal of the medal. Zoomin fast like you're on sweet Z's. Its like getting a scalpel shoved up your rectum, but you're high at the time, and being sexually pleasured by five women of varying ethnicities and bra sizes.




In other words: I have no idea what "kicking it this season" means.

I love 24, it's one of my all times favourite tv shows but this season isn't really doing it for me yet! I wish they'd take a breath and slow things down just a touch. They're killing people way too fast for us to get a handle on any dimensionality to their characters. Including bad guys. The best bad guy so far was the Scottish guy in the first episode and he lasted about four minutes.

I kind of wish they'd reboot and go back to the days of the first season where the the biggest threat was that someone might kill David Palmer. That was it. But it worked because we cared about David Palmer and we were interested by the bad guys who managed to last half a season before being killed. Getting rid of CTU was a bold choice but it's kind of back anyway. They're still achieving the same things and doing the same jobs so what's actually changed? Aside from Bill Buchanan's hair. I mean... what did he see a ghost or something?

And this is total fanboy nonsense but what on earth was with the silent clock last week after Renne was fake shot and buried alive? I didn't for a second think she was dead. And even if she was, she wasn't that impactful a character anyway. I think maybe the producers and writers are so conscious of trying to do something different that they're tainting the process.

I'd love it if they did 24:0, the year before the first season. They could bring all the original cast back and have it be about the forming of CTU. Nina Myers! God I miss that mental case.

Sorry to be a downer, Don. Despite all this, I must say that the worst hour of 24 is still a thousand times better than the best hour of so-called 'drama' over here on UK TV.

I'll keep watching obviously and see how it develops. We're only what, a quarter of the way through so far?

24 episodes

Never watched it. Too much like hard work: 24 episodes! No chance. I couldn't make that sort of commitment. Shows with 2 episodes are okay, even 3 episodes are pushing it for me.

I actually like the whole CTU being dismantled because you know that the subplot behind this season is that the remnants of CTU will save the day and the president will sign an excutive order re-establishing the agency. Hokie but fun... What I like this year, is that Jack is the calming force, not the out of control agent hell bent on the mission, his character is evolving into something better and not so one dimensional. I also like the learning process being applied to the FBI where the point is being made that sometimes the bad guys are really bad guys and the good intentions of the law just don't work.

Yeah, there's plenty of good stuff going on too. Hell, I could have watched just 24 episodes of that amazing senate hearing with Kurtwood Smith in the first episode. I thought he was gonna start his Clarence Boddicker routine. "Cops don't like me. So I don't... like... cops!"

I think they'll wrap it up after next season. Just a gut feeling. But whenever that last season comes, that's gonna be the one. There you'll have a real risk of Jack dying which will probably make for agonising tension.

Anyway, where the hell are Karen Hayes and Morris O'Brien?! Don't tell me they were both on those two planes that crashed into each other.

Ooooh, good question. 'Cuz Morris is Chloe's baby daddy, and weren't Karen and Bill married last season???? Not even a mention so far?

I'm just enjoying seeing Tony again.

It is a bit weird. Karen Hayes was always at her best when she was working against The Man. Given Bill's.... "cosmetic changes," I wouldn't be surprised if she showed up at some point in full leather ninja getup with infra-red eye-patch and twin Micro Uzis.

Don, I have been watching 24 and enjoying it very much.

I never saw the show when it started but caught up by watching the previous seasons on DVDs. We were all caught up and ready for this new season when the writer's strike happened. What a disappointment! No 24 for a year or more.

I think this season is excellent so far. (And I love Tony so I'm glad he's back.)

Sutherland said a long time ago that the obvious choice was to kill Bauer at the end of the series. But now with all the talk about a movie series, it's not the automatic option anymore.

Nothing really solid, but there have been murmurs for a long time. Probably wouldn't happen until the series ends, if at all. But it was a recent interview I read with Sutherland so apparently they're still thinking about it.

I watched a couple episodes but like any thrillers, it irks me when it comes to plausibility, especially in terms of technology. It always seems like the writers drop everything in the sink and see what comes out of it -- as outrageously as possible. In one episode Chloe hooked into the military database over wifi in a frigging bar! I stopped watching afterwards.

Morris is back. Woot!

And Aaron Pierce is back too! Double, triple Woot!
