Hi Everyone. I doubt I am writing under the right section but...
Here's my thought on the whole Mainstream/Contemporary/Literary fiction genre: I think it's a little bit of everything. I'm guessing most of you already figured that out.
With that being said, I need a little help figuring out what type of story I'm writing, however I'm not going to give away the plot.
More or less, my story is about hate crimes which lead to murder. And so, the main character wants to know why bad things happen in life. And so, without actually being the detective, he does some investigating of these crimes on his own a little. And the other thing is, I'm not sure how many murders to include. I have a few in mind, but a friend suggested that I could stretch it out to a series.
But the rest of the time, it's just normal day to day living. Like school, work, love, friends, etc.
so my question is: what genre do you guys think this vague plot would fall under. I'm guessing contemporary mystery but for some reason I'm not sure.
