Want to hear something really strange . . .
When my brother and I were kids we had a great dog. The dog lived to be 18 before passing away. He was our faithful friend and companion throughout our childhood. I used to go out roaming in the woods and would have to follow the dog home because I didn't know the way (no joke). In every way, he was a great dog; maybe a "once in a lifetime" dog. When he died, he was buried in a quiet corner of our property that has always been left alone. My first cat is buried there as well.
We recently sold the "old family place" in the country (well, it used to be country anyway), as my mother is getting older and is moving to Atlanta to live with my brother. My brother had said he was going to dig up the grave of our old dog because he didn't want it to ever be lost. Well, since the dog died many years ago, I thought he would change his mind. Who digs up a dog's grave?
Yesterday, I went home to help pack the truck to move my mother. At one point my brother showed me a large toolbox that was taped up and asked me to guess what was in it. Tools? No. My crazy brother had actually spend half a day in the below freezing cold and snow to dig up the grave of our dog so he could take him too. I really couldn't believe it.
I hope no one here ever seriously says my family didn't care about the animals we had.
