MAXIMUM RIDE series by James Patterson is what comes to mind first.

There's also a book about a dark angel who takes a teenage concubine that I can't remember the title of right now. I always see it in the book store. I think it's something like DARK ANGEL or FALLEN ANGEL but I can't remember.

Noooo. Not angels! I reserve Angels!

Sorry, overreaction. The chances that our novels will be similar are low, but you know, writing paranoia.

I haven't got any reading suggestions, sorry. This wasn't a very useful post, was it? *apologises*

:D I've got an angel story cooking in my head too, but I have a feeling that there's room in the market for all of us. I mean, look at fairies and werewolves and vampires. Nobody's sick of those yet.

Blue Bloods has angels, I think. There's a new one that they're pushing pretty hard about a girl whose boyfriend is murdered and becomes a guardian angel to protect her from the murderer, and she has to decide whether to try to run away or let herself be killed so that she can be with her boyfriend.

Bring on the angels! We'll take over the vamps, were's and zombies!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I borrowed Dangerous Angels from my sister, the Weetzie Bat Books, but so far it's not about angels....maybe they make an appearance later, but it's a good book!

from what I recall, the Weetzie Bat books do not have angels in them. They are good though. If you like those, I recommend The Hanged Man, by the same author. That's my favorite book of hers.

I recently finished reading a standalone book about angels. Guess what it was called?

Angel.

Yep.

The concept was cute, but the actual plotline made me roll my eyes a few times. Plus, the theme wasn't particularly original. I really liked some of the characters, though.

Anyways, it's about guardian angels. Whee.

Dark angel YA novels coming out this year

This thread's been quiet for a while, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who's heard about Hush, Hush (Becca Fitzpatrick) and Fallen (Lauren Kate), both featuring fallen angels.

Yep, definitely looking forward to Hush, Hush, although I hadn't heard about Fallen.

Also, one of the two viewpoint characters in Cynthia Leitich Smith's Eternal is an angel.

(And although they aren't YA, The Vintner's Luck and The Angel's Cut by Elizabeth Knox feature an angel. Who is played by Gaspard Ulliel in the upcoming film. And he looks gorgeous too. Wait, what was I talking about again?)

Apparently there are several angel books coming out, because they somehow became the next big thing (and are now something agents are tired of)

The Amber Spyglass had several major angel characters.

I know. I'd love to get an agent for LS and be like, "Hey, check out my angel book" and not have her laugh in my face. (Although not YA.... I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse)

I love it, and the sequel is my favorite of my books so I'd love for it to get published some day, but I think LS is my best chance at getting an agent/published.
